Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan and Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman were honored at the 7th Annual MusiCaresMAP Fund benefit concert on May 6 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.
Several artists and guests were on hand to celebrate, including concert promoter Gary Tovar, who presented Lyman with MusiCares’ From The Heart Award for his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization, and Aerosmith'sSteven Tyler, who presented Gahan with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, and for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction recovery process.
Performers included Jane’s Addiction; Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington; drummer Curt Bisquera; Gahan with producer/musician Vincent Jones and bassist Martyn LeNoble; guitarists Jason Orme and Joel Shearer of Pedestrian; Ozomatli; Paramore; and Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge. Gahan’s closing set included a cover of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” and an encore of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” featuring bandmate Martin Gore.
